Please Join Partners for Parks, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, Cunningham Recreation & The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Metro Division for the “Healing Communities Through Play” Playground Build

Wednesday, March 29, 2017 9am – 1pm (Shift 1) Noon – 4pm (Shift 2) Druid Hills Neighborhood Park, 2801 Poinsett Street, Charlotte, NC 28206 Parking is available on site. Lunch will be served.

Background Story The Druid Hills Neighborhood Park playground was scheduled to be replaced… but now it’s being supersized. Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, Partners for Parks and Cunningham Recreation pooled their resources to truly enhance the park.

Cunningham Recreation has launched a new initiative entitled “Healing Communities Through Play”. The initiative focuses on bringing county/city leadership, law enforcement officers, residents and youth together to cooperatively build play and fitness spaces that will benefit the entire community. Cunningham Recreation will be donating a portion of the new playground along with picnic tables and benches to the park.

Partners for Parks has dedicated funds raised for the past two years to the Druid Hills Neighborhood Park.

With the help of the Neighborhood, CMPD Metro Division, Cunningham Recreation and YOU we will build the playground, mend fences and create walkways. Our efforts will be a great addition to the new community garden and our multi-generational fitness areas.

Volunteer Interested in volunteering? Please RSVP to Lori Saylor and let us know which shift you’d like to sign up for 9am – 1pm or Noon – 4pm, or if you can join us for the entire day!
