The 2026 Mecklenburg County Senior Games and SilverArts took place earlier this year and Partners for Parks was pleased to serve as a financial liaison between corporate donors and Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, which hosted the events.

“Partners for Parks believes that recreational opportunities for folks at all ages and stages are essential pillars of community well-being,” says Partners for Parks Executive Director Lauren Sawyers. “The Mecklenburg County Senior Games and SilverArts are shining examples of ways that Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation offers programs that are accessible and inclusive and we are pleased to play a role in making this possible.”

Senior Games competitions included swimming, pickleball, bowling, golf, cornhole, and horseshoes. SilverArts competitions included events like painting, basketweaving, fiber arts, pottery, woodworking dance, and writing.

The Senior Games and Silver Arts competitions are for North Carolina residents age 50 and older and are held at various venues across Mecklenburg County. Winners at the local Mecklenburg County level can qualify to compete in the North Carolina Senior Games State Finals.
